AUGUST 22, 2024 — Today marks an exceptional milestone for our community as we unveil an ambitious and visionary journey toward establishing a world-class university for San Antonio. This endeavor will elevate our city to the forefront of excellence in education, discovery, biomedical science, health care and digital technology.
L to R: Robert Hromas, acting president of UT Health San Antonio; James B. Milliken, chancellor of UT System, Kevin P. Eltife, chairman of UT System Board of Regents; James C. "Rad" Weaver, vice chairman of UT System Board of Regents and Taylor Eighmy, president of UTSA.
Together, we will be more effectively positioned and more competitive among the nation’s leading research universities to transform lives through improved education, research, health care and innovation. Both individual institutions are keenly focused on excellence—in academics, research, health care and community engagement—and once integrated, that excellence will be amplified significantly.
We recognize that with this great excitement there may also come anticipation, and we look forward to sharing more details about the forthcoming merger’s timelines, process and input opportunities for faculty, staff, health providers/clinicians and students. Please know you each play a critical role in the success of building the future of this new university, and we will engage regularly to listen to your voices and implement your ideas throughout the process.
